They don't make too much of a fuss. The sick. What do they do during the days - this large collective of sick people in Sweden? Never before have so many been ill for so long. Of stress damaged brains and bodies.
A short documentary film about illness. About the shame. About a struggle in solitude. But also a dream of togetherness. Based on social media posts, notes and interviews with women who have become chronically ill due to exhaustion.
I read an article about Karin, one of the participant in the shortfilm. She had been working as a social worker in Gothenburg but became ill due to stress at her workplace. She had been ill for seven years. Now she was to start a new work at a cemetery. I became interested in this strange situation where so many thousands of people in Sweden lie at home sick in their beds. For several years. Dealing with a heavy serious illness alone. Everything that happens behind the house facades. Which is not visible. I asked Karin if she wanted to help me make a documentary film about the disease and her experiences.
